Public Works

Help our community stay clean and green on trash collection day and throughout the week. Trash and recyclable materials should be placed at the curb between 7:00 PM the night before collections and 7:00 AM on the collection day. Please respect your neighbors by removing the empty containers by 7:00 PM that day.

Help Us Help You

For very large amounts of brush the Borough truck can be rented for $50 (contact Borough Hall at (856) 784-0500 Mon - Thurs).

Large landscape buckets can be borrowed from Public Works for brush (call (856) 784-1477).

Please make sure that all trash cans used for brush have drain holes in their bottom so that they do not fill with water.

Help keep our streets clean, please do not place any loose yard waste in the street.

Streets

Snow Removal

During a snowstorm, the Public Works employees are working hard to make your streets safe. We plow curb to curb wherever possible.

Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or highway, no vehicle shall be parked on the following streets or portions thereof:

  Stone Road
  South Avenue
  Broadway Avenue
  Atlantic Avenue 'East and West'
  Chestnut Avenue
  Park Avenue
  Lakeview Avenue
  Tomlinson Avenue

Borough trucks may plow your street several times and as the snow rolls off the plows it sometimes accumulates in driveways. Please understand that this is unavoidable and it does become the homeowner's responsibility to clear it.

Here are some helpful hints to make snow removal less frustrating:

Shovel snow to the right side of your driveway (facing the street) to minimize the amount of snow entering your driveway.

If possible, wait until the borough trucks have made at least three passes on your street before cleaning your driveway.

Fire Hydrants are easily covered by plowed snow. If you know there is a fire hydrant on or near your property, home or business that is covered with snow, please take the time to at least expose the hydrant below the hose connections to give the Fire Department access.

Culverts

Culverts are cleaned once a month.

Report a blocked culvert to the Public Works at (856) 784-1477

Pot Holes

Residents who encounter potholes on Borough streets, should call the Public Works at

(856) 784-1477 and report the location.

Trees

You must receive permission from the Supervisor of Public Works before any trimming or cutting of trees between the curb line and sidewalk can be done.

Residents can request a tree to be removed by the Borough and the tree will be evaluated then placed on a tree list.

Dangerous trees on the list will be removed first, until the tree budget is exhausted.

Curbs and Sidewalks

Sidewalks are the responsibility of the home owner. Sidewalks are required to be clear of any obstructions and are required to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours of a storm. No debris can be placed in the curb line except leaves in November and December.
