Public Works Department - Brush Pickup
Regular brush pick-up has resumed every other Monday. All yard waste should be tied or bundled or placed in cans. All branches should be cut into three foot lengths. For very large amounts the Borough truck can be rented for $50 (contact Borough Hall at 784-0500 Mon - Thurs).

Please do not place leaves in piles in the street - leaves must be placed into cans or buckets. Buckets can be borrowed from Public Works (call 784-1477).

Please make sure that all trash cans used for brush have drain holes in their bottom so that they do not fill with water.

Rodent Problems
For those of you who have rodent problems, you can purchase a T-Rex Snap Trap to catch the rodents in and this provides "no-touch" disposal of the rodent. This trap has a build-in bait cup.

You can get these at Residex Corp. 1001 Lower Landing Road, Blackwood, NJ. Phone #232-0880.

We were told by the County Board of Health that they will not be coming out this year to bait as they don't have enough employees.

Our Public Works Department will also be putting these traps around different streets on the borough. For questions on this please call the Public Works Department at 784-1477 or Barbara Hawk at 784-0500.

VEHICLE BREAK INS
LOCK YOUR VEHICLES!
Thieves have entered at least 15 cars and trucks in the borough over the last several days, apparently in search of cash, according to Chief of Police Michael Wolcott. Thus far, the thieves have confined their activity to UNLOCKED vehicles and have taken only whatever coins or other cash they could find. So, don’t be a target – lock your vehicle at all times, whether on the street, in your driveway or in your garage (at least one entered vehicle was garaged, but the garage door was left open).

Borough History
The Borough of Laurel Springs is located in Southern New Jersey about 14 miles from the Walt Whitman Bridge that connects Philadelphia to New Jersey. Its main roads were once the only way from Philadelphia to the shore and many people stopped and stayed in Laurel Springs instead of continuing on south. It has a population of 1,970 and covers an area of 1/2 miles.

Walt Whitman spent many summers here and you can read about it in the following biography. Most people pass through our town without even noticing on the way to the Clementon Amusement Park on our southern border. There is a lot of history here and plenty of beauty for all to see. In the center of town is Gray Stone Mansion an old castle built by Samuel S. Cord in the mid 1800's and now serves as the police station for the town.

There is a revitalization taking place in this quaint little community with many new business moving into town. Come, visit and see this beautiful community in South Jersey.
